515 Series XY Variable Optopipe® Light Pipe News

FARMINGDALE, N.J. (03/25/2022)—Dialight (LSE:DIA) today announced the launch of a new 515 Optopipe® light pipe series. These housed variable height and length light pipes are available in several standard dimensions but can also be customized within a min/max range, for a reasonable NRE fee.

 

They offer the same board footprint across various heights and lengths and provide cost savings by simplifying circuit board designs or redesigns.

 

At launch the standard centerline heights for this light pipe series are 0.2” (5.08mm), 0.25” (6.35mm), 0.3” (7.62mm), 0.35” (8.89mm), 0.4” (10.16mm), and 0.5” (12.7mm). The customizable height range is 0.2” (5.08mm) to 0.5” (12.7mm). 

 

The initially available standard lengths are .319” (8.1mm), .590” (15mm), 1.181” (30mm), and 1.772” (45mm). The customizable length range is .319” (8.1mm) to 1.772” (45mm). 

 

Additional standard heights and lengths, and an expansion of the size ranges are planned for future releases of this 515 X/Y variable Optopipe® light pipe series.

 

The light pipes are enclosed in a housing featuring press-fit mounting pins, providing for optimal light transmission and output, as well as secure installation. The new 515 X/Y variable Optopipe® light pipes are designed for use with SMD LEDs. Dialight’s full range of SMD LEDs compliant with this new light pipe series can be found here.

 

Similar to other Optopipe® light pipes, this new series also offers a high level of ESD protection due to the nature of its components and construction, which allows for simpler designs at a lower cost for applications requiring a high level of ESD protection.
